Informational only, based on FAA UAS Facility Map data. It does not show temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) or stadium restrictions. PDS confirms airspace and authorizations before every flight.

How drone airspace works

Most of the country is uncontrolled airspace. A certified Part 107 pilot can fly there up to 400 ft above the ground without asking the FAA. Near airports the rules change, and the FAA splits the sky into classes. Class B, C, and D surround busy and mid-size airports and have towers. Class E and G cover most everything else. Only the airport classes need permission before a drone takes off.

That permission is called LAANC, short for Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability. The FAA publishes a grid called the UAS Facility Map. Each square lists the highest altitude it will approve automatically, from 0 to 400 ft. A 400 ft square is a quick approval. A 0 ft square needs a person at the FAA to review the flight, which takes longer. Prohibited, restricted, and military areas are a separate case and may not be possible at all.

PDS handles every authorization for you. We check the airspace, file LAANC or a manual request, and confirm conditions on the day of the flight, including temporary restrictions this map does not show. We fly across Florida directly and nationwide through our drone program management. Tell us the address and we will tell you what is possible.

Airspace questions

What is LAANC?

LAANC is the FAA system that approves drone flights in controlled airspace near airports. Approval is automatic and usually takes minutes, up to a set altitude for that spot.

Do I need FAA permission to fly a drone for work?

In uncontrolled airspace, a Part 107 pilot can fly up to 400 ft without asking. Near airports the pilot needs LAANC or a manual FAA authorization first. PDS handles both.

What if the map shows 0 ft at my site?

A 0 ft grid square means the FAA will not approve flights automatically there. It can still be possible with direct FAA coordination, so allow extra lead time and send us the address.

Does this map show temporary flight restrictions?

No. It does not show TFRs, stadium restrictions, or local rules. PDS checks all of them before every flight.
